Alay Lakad 2012
It was a 15 kilometer walk from the center of the city to the shrine of the dead Christ or more famously known as the Amang Hinulid.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of devotees do a pilgrimage walk from Naga City to Calabanga, Camarines Sur in celebration of the Semana Santa or the Holy Week. This is my fourth time participating in the Alay Lakad and basing on the past years, every walk presents a different experience.
News reports say that for this year, more or less 500,000 devotees participated in the walk.
I had no plans of joining this year's walk. It really is all too tiring and requires a lot of will power. Imagine walking for four and a half hours. But I was offering this year's walk to a very special intention. So off I went.
Originally, I was to walk with my Days Brithers but it turned out that my mom was leaving for Manila the very same night. I had to bring her to the bus terminal and say our goodbyes before I head on to the walk.
Good thing, my dearest drinking buddies and the rest of the Pillars crew were at Mcdonalds waiting for me. I had to sprint to Mcdo because I thought everybody was irritated waiting for me. We started to walk at 9: 20 pm.
It was definitely a long walk and my feet really hurt. It was worthwhile do. Here are some pictures during this years Alay Lakad.
