Sangay Adventure

It has been a long time since I updated my blog. For those of you who tried to read my blog in the past but got no updates (well Im assuming there is one) I do apologize. But since Im already in front of my laptop and really have nothing important to do, I decided that Im just gonna give you an update.

Back in May 2011, my friends, the drinking buddies, and I decided to go to Sagnay to spend a great weekend bonding. That is why I had some reservations when my workmates said that we are to spend an overnight in Sagnay fo our teambuilding activity. I had reservations primarily because I wanted something new and I have been to Sagnay already. It was not like a longtime ago when I had that outing with my friends. But since mst of my colleagues have not been there yet, the group decided to proceed with the Sagnay trip.

I was honestly having some resevations since it was a weekend off and I would prefer to spend it with my friends. The truth is I just decided that I would go,around an hour before the time of pick up. What made me decide to go was the thought that I have been missing a lot when it comes to activities by my office and in fact this would be the first activity that I wold be joining with my officemates. Yes, it was a little bit of guilt and a little bit of shame that pulled me to join the teambuilding activity.

The pick up time was at 5.30 in plaza quezon. But I had to do a detour in Ateneo because one of my orgmates back in college had to talk to me about something. When I was abotu the leave my loing time high school friend arrived and pleaded for me to just stay and just drink some booze with them. I was really tempted to just stay but I explaned to her the situation and told her that I just need to make up for the activities that I did not attend. Good thing smy friend understood so off I went to plaza quezon to meet up with my workmates.

When I arrived in plaza quezon there was no trace of any of my workmates. I then realized that it was already 6:00 pm so I figured they left without me. You could just imagine how irritating it was. I called my boss and asked where they were and he told me that he is still in the meeting place. I tried to search for him but he was nowere to be found. then he told me to wait in a certain place and that he would just approach me.

To my surprise, even if I was really late , I was one of the first ones to arrive in the pick up area. The first two having arrived at 5 pm and me having arrived at 6 pm. =). Well you coukd just iimagine how irritated the people who arrived were.

Then when everyone finally arrived. We boarded this dark green pick up truck. The trvael time was estimated to be around 45 minutes but we were able to arrive in our destination in two hours.
When we finally got to the town where the beach was we had some trouble finding our way. My workmate who said he knew where we were going appeared to have the directions mixed up. Good thing one of my bosses had her GPS on and tracked the right direction.

Then when we got to the resort we found out that someone had reserved it beforehand because of an event or something. so you could just imagine my workmates and I hungry, tired and frustrated. At this point I was starting to regret that I decided to join.

W ended up with the adjacent resort. It the same beach anyway. What was really irritating about it is that it had no light bulb or any flourescent light turned on so the place was really dark. We still had to ask the caretaker to turn it on for us. Well people were agitated at this point.

Luckily the scene was breathtaking. I mean I have never seen that many stars in my life. I had to sit down in the sand and gaze at the beauty of the stars that were in the sky that niogt. I was like sitting in a planetarium with the sound of the big waves spalshing on the beach. Agfter all the thouble that we haved gone thropugh that was the best thing I experienced.

My workmates and I spent the night until morning dirnking and sharing storiex. There was a group that watched gore movies like final destination and hostel. The other group stayed beside a bonfire drinking. When everyone finallyn was in one drinking group.

It was a nice feeling getting drunk on the beach and waking up as the dawn is breaking. Yes the feeling is better than watching breaking dawn.Ten times better.Swimming was even fun because of the large waves. You literally have to go with the wave because if  not you are going to be swallowed by it whole.

I guess my best takeout from that experience would be on how to look at things at different perspectives. I mean the whiole event was really disastrous but I chose to look on the bright side. It was a chance to take a break from work and a chance to get to know everyone outside the office.

In life things are not going to go as planned but hey, you have the opportunity to turn things around for the better.

When you are expecting sun and the rain comes down, are you gonna lock yourslef in your room or are you just gonna dance in the rain?

Your choice.
