I had a blast last Saturday having to attend the evaluation night of the latest batch of Yuppies Days With The Lord. It was a lot of firsts for me. It was my first time to attend an evaluation night of YDWTL. It was also my first time to be in MetroWalk, Ortigas. It was my first time to be involved in something here in Manila other than my work.
It was a fun-filled night having to meet a lot of new faces and having the chance to build new connections. The group was fun to be with and I can sense a strong bond that even my community in Bicol did not have. I guess it is a product of years and years of being together and going through a lot through life. I could say that the level of conversation is very mature albeit juvenile at times with quirky jokes and all. Anyone who has been part of DWTL will sense a sincere welcome from these guys.
I also met Tommy, who entertained me with stories of DWTL from the past to the present. He enthusiastically retold the history of the different existing and debunked communities- how they started and the difference that were made over the years. The funniest conversation that we had was about the famous people who have participated in Days With The Lord. I found out that Ralph Recto, Bam Aquino, John Lapus, Basil Valdez, Jim Paredes, Buboy Garuvillo, Danny Javier, Chito Miranda, Candy Pangilinan, Hans Montenegro all had their weekend at one point in their lives.
I thought the night could not be more fun but I was wrong. I found out that my Bicolano friends have decided to meet up in MetroWalk. There I met-up with Bon, Erv,Job,Gammy and Bhugz. It turns out that Bon and Tommy were colleagues working under the same company. We talked about a lot of stuff, mostly dazer stuff. It is quite amazing that I could have both my old and new community under one venue.
The night, well it was already morning, ended with Erv and I having breakfast in Mcdonalds. There we talked about prospective activities that we can do for Days With The Lord in Naga. I already had the idea in mind of building our own Yuppie community but I told him that I wanted it to have a different name. So there we were going over a lot of names, when we finally came up with a great one- DWTL Ignite. We have yet to finalize the details but we are nothing but excited to start this new venture.
